Chapada dos Veadeiros Rio Preto & Pedreiras Falls
- Alto Paraiso, GO Rio Preto and Pedreiras are in the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park, an area best known for its rich quartz deposits; old quarries are abundant here. The 6 km trail leads through fields surrounded by beautiful flowers typical of the region. The first stop is lookout peak (120 m in height), then you proceed along the Rio Negro until you reach the 80 meter (260') falls with a magnificient pool, 300 meters in diameter, great for a cool dip. A visitors' center leads to the second peak. 3 1/2 hours of trekking. |

Chapada dos Veadeiros N.P. - Carioquinhas Falls
- Alto Paraiso, GO A trail in the Chapada dos Veadeiros lead to Carioquinhas Falls. These tall and wide falls pour over the rocks to form a natural pool, ideal for swimming or bathing. One-and-a-half hours. Thick sands make for a beach in the area around the pool. |

- Alto Paraiso, GO A 6 km trail in the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park Vale da Lua (Valley of the Moon) leads through a nice stretch of riverbank forest to the edge of the São Miguel River. The craterlike rock formations and the crystalline pool formed by the river truly make this place a sight to behold. 3 hours. |

Chapada dos Veadeiros N.P. - Almécegas Falls
- Alto Paraiso, GO Leaving by car from the entrance to the São Bento Fazenda, drive to Serra Almécegas. From here it's only 700 meters (2200') to the Almécegas Falls, which are 60 meters (200') high and 30 meters wide. Almécegas II, the second set of falls, may be visited by car. |

- Alto Paraiso, GO São Vicente Falls are enormous falls on the Rio dos Couros, 31 km on a very difficult road off of the highway to Brasilia. Access to this area is challenging and a local guide is necessary. 15 minute walk to the first falls. |

Chapada dos Veadeiros N.P. - Solarium Park
- Alto Paraiso, GO Parque Solarion (Solarium Park) is reached on the trail from the village of Moinho. The trail brings us to the Arcanjos Falls, two falls formed by the Pretinho River. From here, rocky trails lead to the Anjo Falls. A careful descent is recommended, as the rocks can get slippery. One and one-half hours. |

Chapada dos Veadeiros N.P. - São Bento Falls
- Alto Paraiso, GO São Bento Falls are reached by walking along the Rio dos Couros 500 meters into the Fazenda São Bento (São Bento Ranch). The 6 meter falls create a pool of dark waters with an amenable temperature for wading or bathing (water polo championships are held here in September). Accessible by motor vehicle. Access from the road to São Jorge. |
